LONDON, 1 OCTOBER 2021: London-based Race Marketing & Management, promoter of the World Parkour Championship, has drawn a line under pursuing the events planned for the remainder of the year and is now fully-focussed on its programme for 2022.

Despite the apparent relaxing of the logistical requirements and complications involved with international travel and the diversity of varied in-country entry requirements still in place due to Covid-19, the obstacles and hurdles that remained have proved insurmountable for the sport’s promoter.

RMM manging director remains upbeat and confirmed that 2022 is now its priority. “Although a tough call, especially after all the effort and support we have received from various organisers and especially our athletes and, along with our partners the International Parkour Federation, we will now channel all our energies into putting together an exciting campaign for 2022”, he said, adding. “We are optimistic that by the turn of the year the obstacles will have been removed and we can move forward.

“There remains a tremendous level of interest in this sport and we will immediately be looking to finalise ongoing discussions with organisers in Turkey, Spain and Mexico to underpin the 2022 calendar.”

LONDON, 2 April 2021: Race Marketing & Management (RMM), promoter of the World Parkour Championship, has confirmed that the season opener scheduled to take place in Istanbul on 21-23 May has been postponed due to the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in Turkey and the subsequent and ongoing international travel restrictions that are in place for arrivals into the country.

RMM has confirmed that the event is rescheduled for 8-10 October.

The collective decision to postpone the Istanbul event was taken by RMM, the sport’s governing bodies the International Parkour Federation (IPF) and the World Freerunning Parkour Federation (WFPF) and the Turkish authorities. “We have been monitoring the situation very closely in recent weeks and of course it is very, very frustrating for everyone involved but absolutely the right decision, the right thing to do due to the current very concerning and very fluid Covid-19 situation,” said RMM managing director, Selim Kemahli. “But the safety of everyone involved is paramount and not up for debate.

“We have rescheduled the event for October and continue to work closely with authorities in various countries to ensure a successful 2021 world championship campaign.”

LONDON, 2 April 2021: Race Marketing & Management (RMM), promoter of the World Parkour Championship, is pleased to announce that the opening round of the 2021 season will be held in Istanbul on May 21-23.

The news sees the world’s leading international Parkour series returning to Turkey following the success of a round of the championship in Mardin in 2018.

The first round of the season is supported by the Turkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) and its ongoing ‘Go Türkiye’ campaign. “We are delighted to be opening the season in Turkey thanks to the tremendous support we have received from all parties, not least the TGA” said RMM managing director Selim Kemahli. “The wellbeing of our athletes, personnel and spectators is paramount and we are working closely with the local authorities and the sport’s federation to ensure that all the correct Covid-19 protocols are in place.”

The three day event will take place at the 13th Century Byzantine Palace of Porphyrogenitus, known as Tekfur Sarayı in Turkish, which has been made available by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The newly renovated venue offers a unique and historic atmosphere as well as a stunning backdrop for the event, in keeping with the heritage of this ancient metropolis.

The event will showcase 20 of the world’s elite Parkour athletes with a large turnout of qualifiers expected at the season-opener and facing three days of practice and qualifying sessions, with the finals for Speed on Saturday, Freestyle and Biggest Trick finals taking place on Sunday and all being streamed on the official web site, Recast, Facebook and YouTube.

LONDON, 18 February 2021: The way people watch one of the world’s most action-packed sports is set to change forever thanks to a game-changing partnership between the World Parkour Championships (WPC) and ground-breaking sports video platform Recast.

The WPC is Parkour’s showpiece series, with events attracting millions of viewers around the world who to date could only catch up with action on YouTube and other video sharing sites.

The partnership with UK-based Recast - a video platform which allows rights’ holders to go direct-to-consumer and connects fans to their content via a subscription-free app –  will give fans of the action-packed sport an innovative new platform where they can watch exclusive clips, highlights and interviews all in one place.

Significantly, the partnership will give Race Marketing & Management (RMM) – the progressive organisation which manages WPC content – more control over how its broadcast rights are monetised, with funds generated through the unique Recast micropayments earning model invested back into the sport, its athletes and other WPC events.

RMM will also work closely with Recast and Parkour athletes to maximise the exposure of the sport world-wide, particularly as Recast will begin its international expansion later this year.  Some of the sport’s biggest names including Nick Provost (over 6 million social media followers), Pasha Petkuns (1.4m) and Dom Di Tomasso (1.3m) are also expected to set up their own channels through the Recast platform.

Selim Kemahli, Race Marketing & Management (RMM) Managing Director, said: “This partnership is a major step for the WPC and Parkour as we work to broaden its appeal and allow bigger audiences to enjoy this fantastic sport.

“It makes me and the team at RMM extremely proud to give WPC coverage a home and a platform to share its content through a genuinely innovative, user friendly and commercially advantageous platform that will benefit the sport, its athletes and its fans.

“We cannot wait to work closely with the team at Recast to grow Parkour and the WPC, and take it to an even bigger global audience.”

Andy Meikle, founder and CEO of Recast, said: “With millions of fans following Parkour and the WPC around the world, this is undoubtedly an exciting partnership.

“Giving sports such as Parkour the airtime they deserve and a solution which works for the fan, the athlete and the sport by monetising content effectively, is precisely why we created Recast.

“RMM is a forward-thinking rights holder with a vision for the future of the WPC and Parkour and we are delighted to be working in partnership to help them realise it.”

WPC content will be available on Recast immediately, including short clips and weekly videos, increasing to full live streams and shorts once the WPC tour resumes following the easing of lockdown restrictions. Long-form highlights packages also feature, as well as short, snackable clips of events.

Recast enters the market at a time where there is a recognised need for change to the current sports viewing model after years of fans increasingly turning to online feeds and illegal streams accelerated due to Covid-19. Fans are looking for affordable access to sport and rights holders are looking to explore new ways to maintain a sustainable commercial ecosystem.

Instead of buying rights itself, Recast connects rights holders directly to fans, allowing an exchange of value through in-app credits called ‘Casts’. There are no upfront costs to rights holders, athletes or fans to join Recast, allowing rights holders to maintain ownership of rights and flexibility over content use, unlike other traditional broadcasting deals.

The direct-to-customer platform operates as a three-sided marketplace that brings fans, brands and rights holders together in one place. Recast’s unique proposition does not purchase any sports rights, following the success of other exchange models such as Airbnb and Uber in not owning supply but generating value through connection.

Recast is already working with several high-profile rights holders and bodies using its ground-breaking technology to help maximise their earning potential from highlights, in-play clips and live events ahead of its full UK launch this year.

Recast’s beta platform is live and fans can now become a part of the community at www.recast.app.

LONDON, 1 February 2021: Race Marketing & Management (RMM) is pleased to announce its appointment as worldwide promoter of the World Parkour Championship.

The multi-term agreement between the sport’s US-based international federation, the World Freerunning Parkour Federation (WFPF) and London-based RMM was reached following months of discussion and negotiations and signed last week.

The agreement affords RMM the worldwide television and commercial rights and to undertake the marketing, promotion and organisation of all world championship events. “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Victor Bevine of the WFPF and look forward to a productive and successful collaboration in taking this spectacular sport forward,” said RMM managing director Selim Kemahli. “We are under no illusions of the immediate challenges due to the disruption and difficulties international sporting events are facing as a result of the ongoing restrictions in place due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

“But the federation has successfully managed and developed a sport that along with its athletes has a truly international following which gives our collaboration a great platform to build on. Our priority will be to establish a realistic but limited calendar of events for this year’s world championship. Our focus will be television production, live streaming of events, establishing a broad distribution and further exploiting the sport’s diverse reach through multiple social media platforms. We are confident that now is the time to push on.”

Race Marketing & Management is a full service sports management, marketing and media company. The company offers turnkey solutions specialising in event organisation, B2B and B2C sponsorship packaging, international broadcast rights acquisition, distribution and production.

RMM has built an enviable portfolio through its involvement with a diversity of extreme sports which include its involvement with the World Parkour Championship in Mardin, Turkey in 2018, the World Kite Board Championship and, through its sister company Case Productions, the UIM F1H2O Powerboat World Championship and UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship.

RMM is optimistic that it will be in a position to reveal details of the opening round in the coming weeks.
